Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack

Hello,

The FaceFX installer does not see Maya 2011 on my system. The subscription advantage pack moved all my Maya directories to a folder called C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack and left a few files in the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2011\docs folder. So now when I install a plug-in for maya the installer doesn’t see Maya 2011 at all as an option. I tried manually installing plug-ins and renaming folders before using the installer and no success.

Any ideas? I heard the Service Pack 1 moves all your stuff to some Maya 2011.5 folder as well.

Thanks,

E

That's odd.

I can try to fix it in the next release (due out in a few weeks), but I would need to know what the registry says your Maya installation is. If you go to Start->Run type regedit, your maya installation should be found in this key (this is for 32-bit versions...for 64 bit versions there is a WOW64 node, but the path is similar after that)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Maya\2011\Setup\InstallPath\MAYA_INSTALL_LOCATION

Obviously it's not there or the installer would work. What does your registry look like? Do you see a MAYA_INSTALL_LOCATION key anywhere?

To fix it, you will have to create the key that the installer is looking for. Copying the files manually won't work because the files are only extracted when an installation is found.

Hello,

Thanks for looking into this.
My reg key for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Maya\2011.5\Setup\InstallPath=
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack

There are no registry directories for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Maya\2011

Someone responded on The Area with this workaround:
http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/autodesk-maya-2011/maya-20…

I will try the regKey approach first.
Thanks,
Erik

OK, I should be able to fix that in the next release.

I don't think the workaround posted on the Area will do anything as far as helping install the FaceFX plugins (though it may help with general file-management issues with Maya 2011.5)

The only workaround I can think of is to create the registry entry the FaceFX installer is looking for.
